reddymaid attended the West of England Celebratory Young Enterprise Dinner tonight at Redwood Lodge Hotel, to celebrate the success of the Young Enterprise teams in the area.

It was a chance to catch up with the other teams in the region who we have met before at competitions and trade fairs, especially nice to catch up with Nox and Pink Label.

After Dinner and Wine… awards were presented.

reddymaid collected ‘Regional Finalist award’ for Runners up in the Bristol Competition, The ‘Best Trade Stand’ award from the West of England, and ‘Best overall company’ for West of England.
Our company will now compete against the South West in Cornwall next month, for the chance to represent the South West in the United Kingdom Young Enterprise Final.

Winner of Young Enterprise West Competition

Enterprising Red Maids take scoop top awards at Regional Young Enterprise Competition
Sixth formers at The Red Maids’ School in Westbury-on-Trym yesterday won ‘Best Overall Company’ at the West of England District Young Enterprise Competition, fighting off competition from around 20 other schools from across the region.

Their company, reddymaid, have published ‘Savour the Flavour of Bristol’, a book of recipes from Bristol’s top restaurants. As regional winners, reddymaid are now to represent the West of England in the next round of the competition, where they will go head to head with winning companies from across the whole of the South West on June 22nd in Cornwall for a place in the National Finals.

This win comes hot on the heels of Reddymaid’s success at two previous stages of the Young Enterprise competition. Four members of reddymaid are off to Europe next weekend courtesy of Young Enterprise to sell their book at the Young Enterprise International Trade Fair in Oslo – the prize for winning the ‘Best Trade Fair’ award at the Galleries Shopping Centre in February. They were also awarded Runner-up in the Bristol Young Enterprise ‘Company of the Year’ competition in March.

At this week’s competition, judges were looking for quality of product and impact of display and identity. Company members were interviewed about how the product was financed and designed and the problems that had to be overcome. The judges were particularly impressed by reddymaid’s high quality product and the excellent understanding of the processes involved demonstrated through the interviews.

In keeping with the importance of community at the heart of the Red Maids’ School, reddymaid have donated ten percent of profits from the sale of the book to Wallace and Gromit’s ‘Grand Appeal’ at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Bristol.

Copies of Savour the Flavour of Bristol are available to purchase for £4.99 (+£1.00 p&p) from reddymaid, The Red Maids’ School, Westbury Road, Bristol, BS9 3AW. Cheques should be made payable to ‘reddymaid’.

Having entered ourselves for the Bristol Company of the Year Award, which included submitting a detailed 10 page business report and presenting a power-point presentation to judges and other companies. We were also judged on our stall and were asked questions by the judges about our company and problems that we had encountered,

Although we were mentioned as being candidates for the prizes for best presentation, best stall, and best report, we didn't win any of them. However, because we had been considered for each of the other prizes, we won runner-up of Company of the Year, meaning we go through to the regional round of the competition!!!

Well done to the entire company, and also to Would like to go home with.... from Badminton School for winning Best Report and especially to NOX of Redland High who won Best stall, Best presentation and Company of the Year.
